Au Ver À Soie® Soie 100/3 is a single-ply, highly twisted spun silk ideal for embroidery, counted thread, canvas work, and hand, machine, or long-arm quilting. Its color numbering matches Au Ver À Soie® Soie Perlee but differs from Soie d’Alger, offering unique shades that expand color choices beyond what’s typically found in other brands’ embroidery threads. Slightly finer than a single ply of Soie d’Alger, the spool’s top and bottom lift for easy thread securing.  

Thread Applications  
Four plies of Soie 100/3 cover 18-count canvas in tent stitch, adding a distinctive texture. Mixing weights of Soie d’Alger, Soie Perlee, Soie 100/3, and Trebizond in the same shade creates beautifully detailed effects. This thread is great for outlining facial features and smoothing curves in canvas work—backstitch around a curve to eliminate jagged edges. Outline stitching delivers sharp, crisp definition on canvas and linen, with varying plies adding depth or a raised look.  

Perfect for blackwork, Soie 100/3’s tight twist prevents piercing during “Holbein Work.” It glides effortlessly when cross-stitching over one thread and unpicks easily when reverse stitching. It’s also recommended for couching—whether for real metal threads or other silks like Trebizond, Soie d’Alger, and Soie Perlee. When couching real metal or Trebizond, use it waxed to avoid cutting into the metal, unlike polyester.
